Aligarh Trailer: Biographical film touches sensitive topic of homosexuality in India

Set to release on February 26, 2016, Aligarh is a Hindi biographical film based on the life of Srinivas Ramchandra Siras who was suspended from his job because of his sexual orientation. The film is directed by Hansal Mehta and stars Manoj Bajpai, Rajkumar Rao and Ashish Vidyarthi in lead roles. Set mostly in the state of Uttar Pradesh and based on true events, the plot revolves around Dr. Siras who taught Marathi at Aligarh Muslim University. He was suspended from his job on charges of homosexuality. An emotional drama, Aligarh comes across as an art film with seasoned acting by Manoj Bajpai who fills the main protagonist’s shoes with much conviction.
