Explosive dance performance recreates colonial Indian history

Indian Cultural Association of York University performs energetic dance on grim chapter of pre-independence India

York University kicked off its Multicultural Week, 2016 at the end of January with a unique array of diverse performances to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Canada. An unmistakable highlight of the show was the Cultural Explosion dance performance put together by the talented York Federation of Students (YFS) that weaved the intricate, complex and melancholic history of subjugation, plunder and desperation faced by pre-independence Indians at the hands of its colonial masters. The electric troupe of dancers set the stage on fire by their vivid depiction of the horrors of colonial India with gestures, moves, costumes and graphic reprisals in total sync with the theme of this lurid past.

A must-watch video with credits going out to the following team members who put their heart and soul to recreate history through the powerful medium of dance. Please note that this list may not be conclusive.
